Qatar QSuite is Washington-bound

Qatar Airways has introduced its new Business class product to its Washington flights. The carrier’s QSuite offers a double bed and customisable private cabins for up to four people with stow-away privacy panels, allowing passengers in adjoining seats to create their own private suite.

 

China Eastern adds limo service

China Eastern Airlines has rolled out a new limousine service. Eligible first and business class passengers on flights MU711/712 and MU727/728 are now offered complimentary airport transfers in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Shanghai (Pudong) and Beijing, with the maximum catchment range varying from 35km in Sydney to 60km in 60kms in Shanghai and Beijing. The free limo service must be requested at least seven working days prior to departure.

 

New Holiday Inn for Western Sydney

The Holiday Inn Sydney St Marys is now open. Located between Parramatta and Penrith, the 119-room hotel is connected to St Marys Rugby League Club. It features a business centre, gym and meeting rooms as well as free wi-fi and guests have access a range of restaurants bars, lounges and function rooms within the Rugby Club Complex.

 

Curio Collection Sydney

The 182-room West Hotel Sydney, Curio Collection by Hilton is now open. Located in the new Barangaroo commercial precinct the property features a restaurant, private meeting rooms and a fitness centre.

 

Crowne Plaza London - Albert Embankment

London’s Albert Embankment is set to host its first luxury hotel when the Crowne Plaza London - Albert Embankment opens in May this year. Located on the South Bank of the River Thames, the hotel offers views of the Houses of Parliament and London Eye. The property will feature 142 rooms, a restaurant and rooftop terrace and a 24-hour fitness centre.


BA dining upgrades

British Airways is revamping its economy class in-flight dining. Passengers in World Traveller class will enjoy an expanded menu offering from 17 January. The current three-course meal will be upped to four courses and Graze snack boxes have been added on longer flights.

 

Hilton Honors perks rejig

The Hilton Honors loyalty program is being tweaked to make it easier for members to earn points and unlock rewards. Effective from April, new Elite tier bonus rates for Silver, Gold and Diamond users will be introduced and members will be able to gift Elite Status to someone if that stay more than 60 nights in a calendar year. Elite members can also rollover nights earned beyond their current tier to the following year.

 

W Hotels Japan debut

Marriott International plans to debut its W Hotels brand in Japan. The 337-room W Osaka is set to open in 2021. Located on Mido-Suji Boulevard, the new-build hotel will feature a choice of restaurants and bars, a fitness centre and spa as well as a range of meeting and event facilities.


DoubleTree into Chengdu

Hilton Worldwide has opened its first DoubleTree by Hilton-branded hotel in Chengdu. The 394-room DoubleTree by Hilton Chengdu – Longquanyi includes 48 full-service apartments for longer stays and is located in the city’s economic and technological development zone. It features a range of dining venues, a 24-hour gym and indoor swimming pool as well as six multi-function meeting rooms, a VIP boardroom and a ballroom suitable for up to 700 guests.


Malaysia Airlines to resume Brisbane services

Malaysia Airlines will resume services on its Kuala Lumpur-Brisbane route in June. Initially scheduled to operate on A330-300 aircraft four days a week, the plan is to increase to a daily service once demand is assessed. The carrier is also planning to up the frequency of its Adelaide services from four to five times weekly from June increase Perth flight frequency from seven times weekly to 12.


St Regis Hong Kong

The St Regis brand is set to debut in Hong Kong in early 2019. Located in the heart of Wan Chai, the hotel will be within walking distance of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre as well as Victoria Harbour. The property will feature 129 suites, a swimming pool, a 320-seat banquet hall and an open-air terrace for al fresco gatherings.
